Puppy Dognapped From Locked Car

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A Northwest Side couple is hoping their sad story of a kidnapped dog has a happy ending.

When Tim Darling went to pay for his fiancée's engagement ring Saturday, he took their dog Bella along for the ride. He says he left the six-month-old poodle Maltese in the locked car with the windows cracked.

She was in the car in the crowded lot at the Harlem and Irving Park Mall for less than ten minutes.

But in that time, someone stole the puppy.

"The hardest call was to call Anette and tell her what happened," Darling says.

"She's not just dog for me, she's a human for me. She's my daughter. It's really painful," his fiancee, Anette Szumic, says.

The couple is searching everywhere. They're also offering a reward for Bella's return.
