Blackhawks Acquire Negotiating Rights To Montador
CHICAGO (CBS) The Blackhawks have acquired the negotiating rights to defenseman Steve Montador from Buffalo in exchange for a seventh round draft pick in either the 2012 or 2013 draft.
That draft pick was acquired from Florida Monday in a deal that sent Tomas Kopecky to the Panthers.
Montador is an unrestricted free agent, but the Blackhawks will have exclusive negotiating rights to the free agent until Friday.
Montador had five goals and 21 assists in 73 games with the Sabres last season. He led the team with 138 blocked shots.
