Davis Released; Barney Reactivated

CHICAGO (CBS) The Cubs released pitcher Doug Davis and reactivated second baseman Darwin Barney from the disabled list in advance of Wednesday night’s game against the San Francisco Giants.

Barney is in tonight’s lineup and will bat second and play second base. He suffered a Grade 1 PCL strain in his right knee June 13.

Davis was 1-7 with 6.50 ERA in nine starts with the Cubs this season. He allowed 10 earned runs in just four and one third innings Tuesday against the Giants at Wrigley Field.
