Report: White Sox Sign Draft Pick Walker

(WSCR) It appears as if the Chicago White Sox have signed their first pick from the 2011 MLB Draft.

Keenyn Walker, the former Central Arizona College switch-hitting outfielder, hinted at a signing via his Twitter account, and the signing was confirmed by the Chicago Tribune.

"Ya buddy! Finally becoming a part of the Chicago White Sox family!!" Walker said on Twitter.

According to the Tribune, the signing won't become official until next Tuesday, after Walker passes a physical examination. The newspaper reached out the Walker on Wednesday, to confirm what he had said on Twitter.

"It's a huge relief for me," Walker told the Tribune. "After Friday, I thought we were going all the way to the (Aug. 15) deadline again. But we finally got it done."

Walker, the 47th overall pick by the White Sox, was previously drafted by the Cubs and Phillies.
