Report: Kerry Wood To Return From DL On Friday

CHICAGO (CBS) Chicago Cubs reliever Kerry Wood was placed on the disabled list on June 13 with a blister on his throwing hand. And it looks as if Wood will return to the active roster on Friday.

Wood made the announcement through his new Twitter account, saying simply: "I am coming off the DL tomorrow."

On Friday, the Cubs open up the second half of their city series with the Chicago White Sox.

Wood's return to the active roster comes a day after second baseman Darwin Barney returned from the disabled list. After a rash of injuries, Wood's return would mean only Marlon Byrd and Andrew Cashner are still on the DL.

The Cubs list Byrd as an early July return, but list no time table for Cashner, who was pulled during his first start of the season and placed on the DL.
