Abbatacola: Zambrano Leaves Game after 34 Pitches

By Matt Abbatacola–

CHICAGO (CBS) Carlos Zambrano left the game in the second inning with lower back soreness.

In the first inning, he walked one and struck out one. In the second inning, he issued a lead-off walk to Nate Schierholtz. Brandon Crawford bunted to the right side on the infield which caused Carlos Zambrano and first baseman Carlos Pena to attempt a play on the ball with no one covering first base. Second baseman Darwin Barney ran over to the bag and Pena flipped the ball towards first base. The ball was deflected by Barney and grabbed out of mid-air by Zambrano who then threw to second base as Crawford attempted to advance on the fumbled play at first. Zambrano’s throw went wide of the bag as shortstop, Starlin Castro, attempted to make the play. Crawford was safe at second and Schierholtz advanced to third.

Zambrano gave up a single to the next batter, Miguel Tejada, scoring Schierholtz with Crawford advancing to third. After a first pitch ball to Eli Whiteside, Koyie Hill went to the mound followed by team trainer Mark O’Neal and manager Mike Quade. Zambrano left the game and Marcos Mateo come on in relief.

This reads like a damned Marx Brothers script! Has Dusty come back to coach infield fundamentals? I knew that the outfield fundamentals were horrific, but the infield’s too?

Thank goodness that we have our ace pitching today. He’ll take the ball and shut em’ down!

Huh? What? What is that? 34 pitches?!?!? Another bum! I imagine he told Quade to take him out and Quade said “yes sir!!! Whatever you say sir!!!”

    Sell the team Scurvy Ricketts!!!!

He is a reason you go to war against the player’s union or his agent.
I swear, there is some, dare I say unspeakable, evil humors that permeate that locker room.
The ghosts of Sammy’s boom box, Kim’s base coaching, and Manny’s spectral manifestation of his anger. All merge into one demonic miasma.

Zambrano has never been very good on hot, humid days.

The article is poorly written. Who is proofing and editing these articles? Is CBS hiring writers who don’t know proper English and grammar? Ridiculous.

It’s not easy trying to write that much baseball badness in one sentence.

Try translating any of that into another language, then re-translate that into English.
      You’d get:

Then, he took the balloon and threw it to the grass that is outside and failed to eat the plate of crawdaddies under what Barney had given him.
