Alderman Asks Chicagoans To Donate Cell Phones For Troops

CHICAGO (CBS) -- The City of Chicago wants you to help U.S. troops abroad keep in touch with their families.

Many of us back here at home have cell phones, but the troops overseas may not.

On Wednesday morning, Ald. James Balcer (11th) was set to announce a new city initiative to collect cell phones for the troops.

Starting this week, you can donate cell phones at your alderman's office.

Balcer talked about the initiative at a news conference before the City Council meeting Wednesday morning.
