Police Warn Of Attempted Child Abduction Near McKinley Park
CHICAGO (STMW) -- Police are warning Southwest Side residents of an attempted child abduction that occurred near a park last week.
On July 7 at approximately 3:30 p.m., a man approached a group of children as they were walking home from McKinley Park, at Western Avenue and Pershing Road, an alert from the Chicago Police Department said. The man pulled alongside of the children, offered them money, and asked them to get into his vehicle, a red Honda sedan.
The children refused and ran home, police said.
The man was described as black male, 20-30 years old, 5-foot-11 to 6-foot-1, with a dark brown complexion and a short black Afro, the alert said. He was last seen wearing a white shirt and blue jeans with a gold chain and white colored earring.
The offender also appeared to have tattoos on his right arm and neck. The red Honda sedan he was driving had a dark interior and possibly a rear hood spoiler.
