Dez Clark: 'I Really Don't Think I'll Be Back' With The Bears

(WSCR) While the representatives for the NFL owners and players continue to try and reach an agreement on a new collective bargaining agreement, there's a group of players not only uncertain when they'll play again, but also where they'll play.

One of those unrestricted free agents, unable to speak with potential teams, is longtime Bear Dez Clark. After a season that saw him play the fewest games in his 12-year NFL career, a ninth year with the Bears might not happen.

"Honestly, I really don't think I'll be back up in Chicago," Clark told Zach Zaidman on The Score. "Because when you look at the situation, you know, it's still three good tight ends that they have up there. And obviously last year I was the odd man out, for whatever reason. So I just don't see a scenario where they would bring me back up there and have four tight ends again."

Although Clark didn't seem optimistic that a return to Halas Hall was in his future, he didn't rule it out. And seemed like he'd gladly return to Chicago if given a chance to compete for playing time.

"I'm always open to coming back to Chicago," Clark said. "Chicago has been good to me and coming back up there and competing with those three guys, you know, I'd do that any day of the week. One thing I would ask, is just to have a fair shot at a job to go in and compete. And then if I'm then good enough to go out there on the field, then give me the chance to go out there on the field. So that's all that I would ask.

"If the Chicago brass would be willing to let me do that, I would love to come back. But trying to say where I'm going to end up? I really don't know. ... Wherever I end up, I know they're going to get a good tight end."
