WILLOWBROOK, Ill. (CBS) — Police say a man shot and killed his longtime girlfriend, then turned the gun on himself, late Thursday night in unincorporated Willowbrook.

Around 11:15 p.m., About 11:15 p.m. DuPage County Sheriff’s police responded to a report of gunshot in the 10-S-400 block of Echo Lane in unincorporated Willowbrook, where a man had shot a woman, according to a news release.

Police found the woman and man — who had been in a long-term dating relationship — dead from apparent gunshot wounds, the release said. It is believed to be a case of murder-suicide.

A spokeswoman for the DuPage County Coroner’s office confirmed the deaths, but was not releasing further details as of late Friday morning.

Further details will be released pending notification of family members, the sheriff’s office said.
