Updated 7/16/11 5:47 p.m.

CHICAGO (STMW) – A man died after being shot seriously injured Saturday afternoon in a possibly gang-related attack in the Kenwood neighborhood on the South Side.

At 1:13 p.m. someone shot the 20-year-old man in the 4700 block of South Woodlawn Avenue, according to police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala.

Police said the victim’s condition was serious, but hospital information was not immediately available.

The victim was identified as Tony McCoy, 20, of the 1100 block of East 47th Street, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Police said that area has been fraught with gang conflicts for the last three or four months, and there is a threat of retaliation after Saturday’s attack.

Wentworth Area detectives are investigating.

I just moved from that neighborhood 2 years ago. It wasnt to bad then. I guess that the gangs have to expand from 33rd or 79th. I had to get away. The neighborhood is about 98% black, do you wonder why there is crime? At least I am safe in Wisconsin now. Have fun killing each other crack heads!
