WHEELING, Ill. (CBS) – A man and a woman were killed early Sunday when the motorcycle they were riding crashed in northwest suburban Wheeling.

At about 3 a.m. Sunday, Buffalo Grove police officers notified Wheeling police of a speeding motorcycle headed south on Milwaukee Avenue.

LISTEN: Newsradio 780′s Steve Miller reports

The motorcycle crashed a short time later near the intersection of Milwaukee Avenue and Dundee Road in Wheeling.

Killed in the crash ere Sean Meyer, 26, of Wheeling, and Justine Randall, 23, of Deerfield.

Buffalo Grove Police tell Newsradio 780 that their officers were not involved in a chase with the motorcycle – and Wheeling Police say they were not involved in a pursuit and were not trying to stop the motorcycle.

A Wheeling Police statement says investigators are trying to determine whether alcohol played a role in the crash.

Two young people are dead because of stupidity with a motorcycle. According to the police, the driver was speeding and I would be willing to bet that neither of them had a helmet on or other safety equipment that might have saved their lives. What a shame. Our condolences to the families on an accident that should not have happened.

  • lo

How do you KNOW that “stupidity” caused this terrible accident?? Where you there? Or did you see exactly what happened ? No amount of protective equipment can promise that injuries will not be fatal during a crash. People who do not understand or appreciate motorcylists shouldn’t comment about things that they cannot possibly comprehend. Things that can happen while you lazily drive your cars can cause horrible accidents for motorcycles. In fact, cars with distracted drivers are the leading cause for motorcycle accidents. Watch for motorcycles please everyone and put down the phones!

    • you wise @$s

Uhhh, where YOU paying attention to the article? They were speeding, disobeying traffic laws at 3 in the morning! What do you think they were doing? they were probably drunk off their @$$e$ and going home ONLY because the bars had closed!! COMMON SENSE!!! COME ON MAN!!! WAKE UP!!

      • lo

That information was not in the article, if they were actually speeding why were the cops not chasing them? And how do YOU know they were drunk? Again , breaking laws, why no police involved? People who ASSume generally know nothing. Spend your time writing about things that you know nothing about because you don’t have a clue, real smart!

Crotch rocket, high speed, 3AM, and a little hottie for a passenger…..and trying to impress her with your complete lack of knowledge of racing technique is the perfect recipe for KILLING YOURSELF.

SQUID! That fully explains it all.
      STUPID…QUICK, UNDERDRESSED…Imminently Dead.

I totally agree, these comment boards only prove people’s lack of concern for others and to make themselves look like idiots.

I admit my cousin has made stupid decisions in her life, but she didn’t deserve to die this way. Things happen for a reason, and I don’t blame anyone in this accident. The family is just trying to get by after this horrible incident, and we would be pleased. Yes, my cousin got on the motorcycle, but come on. EVERYONE drinks. So if you have any hate towards them, please keep it to yourself. R.I.P. my little Justine<3

  • akalei

We would be pleased if people just left us alone* Thank you.
