CHICAGO (CBS) -- One of Illinois' newest lottery winners was presented with an oversized check for her winnings Monday, amounting to $500 a week for life.
As WBBM Newsradio 780's Bernie Tafoya reports, June 23 was both an unlucky and lucky day for retired Cook County employee Doris Terry, 68.

She had bought $40 in Lottery tickets, but didn't win a thing. Her friend had won $100.
When they went to cash in those winnings, her friend decided to cheer Terry up by buying her $5 more in ticket. Wouldn't you know it, Terry had a winning ticket for $500 a week for life.
"I didn't believe it at first, so I said, 'Wait a minute,' so I brought it in, and I told her, 'Girl, we've got some money,'" Terry said.
Terry plans to share her winnings, but she won't say how much.
"She's getting a portion and I'm getting a portion," she said.
And what does she think of her winnings?
"That's wonderful," she said. "I can pay my house off."
The winning ticket was sold at Commercial Food and Liquors at 100th Street and Commercial Avenue in the Vets' Park neighborhood.
