Report: Cubs Sign Gretzky’s Son

(CBS) The Cubs have signed draft pick Trevor Gretzky, the son of Wayne Gretzky, according to the Toronto Sun.

The Cubs drafted the first baseman out of Oaks Christian High School in Westlake Village, Calif. He was set to play for San Diego State this coming fall before he was drafted in the seventh round.

“We heard he signed with the Cubs on Monday,” San Diego State Aztecs coach and Hall of Famer Tony Gwynn to the Toronto Sun.

That’s why their players come up from the minors with no skills whatsoever–they think they’re in the NHL!!!

I coached a peewee baseball team in southern Ontario when I was in my 20’s.
Kids 12 and 13. We alway had a big tournement in our town. I was sure we played a team from Brantford where Gretzey was from, and I rember beating them. Sure enough I went back home to visit my parents, and ran into a person that I coached, who was coaching another kids team. His wife brought me a local newspaper article about one of the games this players name was in. And in the second paragraph. shoulded Wayne Gretzey had a double. He was a hockey legend at that time. That was 35 plus years ago
