Police Seek Suspect Who Raped 15-Year-Old Girl

CHESTERTON, Ind. (STMW) -- Police are looking for a suspect after a 15-year-old girl was raped earlier this week in a wooded area near her northwest Indiana home.

The girl had just stepped outside her back door about 11:30 p.m. Monday when a male wearing all dark clothing and armed with a handgun abducted her, according to a Chesterton police report.

The suspect took her to a wooded area near her home, where she was sexually assaulted there, the report said. The girl was taken to a hospital for examination.

Police searched the area around the Rosehill Estates Subdivision — just west of Route 49 and north of the Indiana Toll Road — with dogs, but did not find the suspect.

Anyone with information should call Chesterton police at (219) 926-1136.
