Carjacking Suspect Escapes Despite Police Gunfire

CHICAGO (CBS) — Police are searching for a carjacking suspect who ran away while police shot at him in the South Side’s Burnside neighborhood.

The incident happened around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 800 block of East 89th Place, police said.

Police had pulled over a vehicle wanted in an earlier carjacking, when an armed man got out, police said.

Officers fired shots at the suspect, but he was not hit, police said.

The suspect ran away, but a second male suspect in the vehicle was arrested, police said.

The investigation into the carjacking continues.
