(CBS) Former Illini basketball player Jereme Richmond is currently being held in Lake County Jail after being arrested Monday after a confrontation at a Waukegan home.

Richmond’s bond was set at $100,000 and is he is facing charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, battery, possession of a firearm and assault, according to Waukegan Police Commander Gabe Guzman.

The incident occurred Monday afternoon in the 3000 block of Golfmoor and three other men were arrested along with Richmond. A .40 caliber Smith & Wesson handgun was found in the vehicle driven by the men.

According to the police report, Richmond arrived at the home of a woman he may of dated and yelled: “You looking for me? I’m here now. I’ll shoot your ass.”

Richmond attended the University of Illinois for just one season and clashed with coaches and players before leaving the program. He declared for the NBA Draft, but went undrafted in June.

“I am saddened to learn about the incident involving Jereme,” Illinois coach Bruce Weber said in a statement. “We wish the best for the young people involved and their families as they work through this situation.”

    • Harold White

You are more fearful of racism then Jereme is even if he were to have or would make such a comment. With each post of idiocy as such as this one and others that usually appear from scary white ppl on websites makes me laugh . This kid is just an idiot. Hmph the same way as idiots white, latino, asian, or any other teen male that does such a dumb act.

So… do we have enough bodies for an “All-Chicago never-was” team?

Darius Miles, Rashard Griffith, Sean Dockery, Shaun Livingston… too productive?

    PG- Angel Santiago
    SG- Ronnie Fields
    SF- Jereme Richmond
    PF- Leon Smith
    C- Thomas Hamilton

small forward never was team has to include Tom Kleinschmidt . Hell I would start him over richmond..

      • Weber 92

I wouldn’t include Tom, he played at DePaul and was successful… he ran out of talent in the NBA’s eyes. Some of these other kids think the NBA is going to knock on their door if they declare for the NBA.

    • Larry Horse's Arse

J.R. fell off the map ever so swiftly.

Too bad, this was his only opportunity to succeed…..you can take the dog out of the ghetto but you can’t take the ghetto out of the dog.

That was the dumbest thing I ever heard, ghetto dog, That doesn’t even make sense.

  • Larry Horse's Arse

The original charge was attempted murder, but when the Prosecutor realized that J.R. can’t shoot beyond 6′ he dropped it to aggravated battery.

Hey Harold, go back and check some of the quotes coming from Jereme, his family and his “posse” when the NBA decided they were over the limit for morons. and didn’t draft him. “Racism” was in there more than once!

He would have been better off in South Dakota or Wyoming.
Where you have no choice but to succeed in something else, because your closest neighbor may be a bushmaster
    or a coyote.

My thoughts on Jereme Richmond can be simply summed up in a quote from Dumb and Dumber:
“Mann… you are one pathetic loser! Hahahahaha… no offense.”
