BROOKFIELD, Ill. (STMW) – Police seized guns and $1,700 last month from a self-admitted Latin King gang member at his west suburban Brookfield home, police said.

Riverside police and a west suburban task force executed a search warrant July 8 at the Brookfield home of a 22-year-old self-admitted Latin King gang member, according to a release from Riverside police.

He was taken into custody and officers recovered a 12-gauge Mossberg shotgun, 22-caliber H revolver and $1,700 in cash, the release said.

He told police that he’d been in the gang since he was 16 years old and sold drugs in the west suburban area, including Riverside, Lyons, Summit, North Riverside and Brookfield.

No charges have been filed, pending an ongoing investigation.
