Man Dies After Being Rescued From Diversey Harbor

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A man was rescued from Diversey Harbor overnight, but ultimately didn't make it.

As WBBM Newsradio's Regine Schlesinger reports, it was around 3 a.m. when police and fire crews got a call from a passerby of a man in the harbor, which is an inlet from Lake Michigan.

Crews fished the man out and rushed him to nearby St. Joseph Hospital in critical condition, but he was pronounced dead at 3:45 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

It is unclear what the man was doing in the water near Fullerton Drive.

The man remains unidentified, except that he was in his 50s.
