Construction To Cause Overnight Delays On Red, Blue Lines

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Overnight maintenance work is expected to cause delays this week on the Red and Blue lines. Passengers should allow extra travel time.

Red Line trains in both directions will operate on the same track between the Lake and North/Clybourn stations from 11 p.m. Sunday until 4 a.m. Monday while crews perform maintenance work, according to the CTA's website.

As a result, passengers must board and exit all trains on the 95th Street-bound platform at the Grand and Chicago stations, and on the 95th Street-bound side of the platform at the Clark/Division station.

Also on the Red Line, trains in both directions will operate on the same tracks between the 63rd and 79th Street stations from 10:30 p.m. Monday until 4:30 a.m. Tuesday for track maintenance, the CTA said. The work will continue at the same times the next three days, ending early Friday.

During the work, passengers must board and exit all trains on the Howard-bound side of the platform at the 69th Street station.

On the Blue Line, trains in both directions will run on the same track between the Cumberland and O'Hare stations from 11 p.m. Monday until 4 a.m. Tuesday while crews perform track maintenance, the CTA said. The work will continue at the same times the next two days, ending early Thursday.

As a result, passengers must board and exit all trains on the O'Hare-bound side of the platform at the Rosemont station.

From 11 p.m. Thursday until 4 a.m. Friday, all Blue Line trains will run on the same track between the Rosemont and Harlem stations because of track maintenance, the CTA said. Passengers must board and exit all trains on the O'Hare-bound side of the platform at the Cumberland station.

Minor delays are expected, and the CTA is advising passengers to allow extra travel time.
