Police Officer, Motorcyclist Hurt In Crash
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Two drivers – one of them a Chicago Police officer – were recovering Tuesday morning after a head-on crash in the South Chicago neighborhood.
The crash happened around 1:50 a.m. in the 8500 block of S. South Chicago Avenue, police said. The civilian was riding a motorcycle, and slammed into the officer's marked squad car.
The officer, who was patrolling alone in the squad car, was was taken in good condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn with non-life threatening injuries.
The motorcyclist was taken in serious condition to Northwestern Hospital with what appears to be broken bones, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.
It is not clear what caused the crash, and it was not known Tuesday morning if any traffic tickets would be issued.
