Woman Killed In Crash On Route 394

GLENWOOD, Ill. (STMW) - A woman was killed on Ill. Route 394 in south suburban Glenwood Friday afternoon when a semi traveling in the opposite direction crossed the median and hit her SUV head-on.

The woman was traveling in the southbound lanes near Glenwood Dyer Road in her 1999 Ford Explorer about 4:55 p.m. when a northbound semi truck veered across the grassy median and hit her SUV head on. The impact caused the SUV to burst into flames and the woman died on the scene, Illinois State Police Chicago District Trooper Mark Hall said.

She was identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office as 49-year-old Mary Lacy of Lynwood. She was the only person in the SUV.

Police do not know what caused the 36-year-old male driver of the semi to cross the median, and no citations have yet been issued, Hall said.
