Maintenance Equipment Derailment Leads To Red Line Delays
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Minor delays were expected on the CTA Red Line Thursday morning, after maintenance equipment derailed on the Dan Ryan branch.
The minor derailment happened about 3:30 a.m. on the southbound Red Line tracks near 71st Street, Chicago Transit Authority spokeswoman Kim Myles said. No one was injured, and a cause for the derailment was not clear early Thursday.
The equipment was put back on the rails, Myles said.
Trains were down to a single track in the area, but all train service was back to normal as of about 6:45 a.m., she said.
But residual delays remained as late as 6:45 a.m., and riders were advised to allow extra travel time, according to the CTA Web site.
