Father, Son Arrested After Rogers Park Domestic Fight

CHICAGO (CBS) -- When a Rogers Park neighborhood man slapped his girlfriend, she got even by calling police to tell them the man's son had an illegal gun.

Both men were arrested at their home Thursday night.

Byron Carr Sr., 51, allegedly slapped his girlfriend during a fight around 7 p.m. Thursday in the 1700 block of West Juneway Terrace, in the North of Howard section of Rogers Park.

The violent act apparently prompted her to call police and tell them Carr's son, Byron Joseph Carr, 20, had a gun, police said.

The elder Carr was charged with domestic battery while the younger was charged with possession of a defaced firearm, possession of ammunition, possession of cannabis and unlawful use of a weapon, police said.

Both Carrs, who live at the Juneway Terrace address, were expected to appear in bond court later Friday.
