Crews Pry Door Off Car For Rescue After I-55 Crash

DARIEN, Ill. (CBS) — Fire Department crews had to pry the door off a car in a crash on the Stevenson Expressway, leaving traffic tied up for miles.

As CBS 2’s Kris Habermehl reports, the white car was sideswiped on the northbound Stevenson (I-55) near Cass Avenue.

The driver only suffered minor injuries, but firefighters had to pry off the door of the car to extricate the accident victim.

The left northbound lane was blocked during the rescue operation, leaving northbound I-55 jammed from past Weber Road northeast all the way to Route 53.

The victim suffered relatively minor injuries, Habermehl reported.
