World's Finest Chocolate on the Southwest Side says the bar measures almost 3 feet high, 4 feet wide and 21 feet long. Chief executive officer Eddie Opler says it's a supersized version of the company's standard milk chocolate bar with almonds.

It took 1,200 pounds of almonds, 5,500 pounds of sugar, and nearly a ton of cocoa butter to make the bar.

Opler says the promotion is part of the campaign against obesity with a lesson about portion control.

"We decided we can get the kids' attention in a big way with the largest bar in the world," he said.

For the next few months the humongous chocolate bar will tour schools nationwide with the message, "Think Big, Eat Smart."

World's Finest Chocolate is well-known in Chicago as the provider of candy bars door-to-door school fundraisers, and also makes gift and retail products.
