(WSCR) Troy Aikman had one of the best views of the Bears’ 27-17 loss to the Packers, but he still can’t figure out how to fix the problems plaguing Chicago in all facets of the game.

Most notably to Aikman was the Bears’ lack off offensive production.

“This is an age where we are in offensive football,” Aikman told The Mully and Hanley Show on Monday. “We’re talking about historical numbers offensively and what quarterbacks are doing, and the points that are being scored. It seems to be happening to every team except the Bears, and it hasn’t happened in a long, long time. What’s the explanation for it?

“For longest time in convering this team it was, ‘Well, we don’t have a quartback.’ Rex Grossman was the punching bag while he was quarterbacking. Well, you make the trade for Jay Cutler. I’ve said many times, if Jay Cutler is the quartrback that the Bears say he is, then where does the problem lie? It seems we’ve been sayign the same thing over and over and not a lot has been addressed in improving that team.”

Aikman also pointed to the Bears inexperienced receiving corps. With no true No. 1 receiver, Cutler is limited with his weapons.

““This is a passing league and there hasn’t been a 1000-yard receiver in eight years? I think that tells the story,” Aikman said. “… Any quarterback you want to point to who has had any measure of success in the National Football League has had great players. That’s the way the league is.”

The Bears have always been a run first, pass second team, but with Matt Forte gaining just two yards in nine attempts Sunday, it’s time for the Bears to rethink their strategy.

”The notion that great defeanse and run the football wins, that ended a long time ago,” Aikman said.

“They’re not playing dominant defense. It’s not the ’85 Bears. It’s not the 2000 Ravens. And they’re not running the ball. They don’t really have a lot that they can hang their hat on and say, ‘Here’s what we’re doing and here’s what we’re doing well.’”
