White House? Hampton Says No Thanks

(WSCR) As the 1985 Superbowl champion Chicago Bears gear up for a trip to the White House more than 25 years in the making, one Hall of Famer won't be making the trip to Washington.

Four-time Pro Bowler Dan Hampton has decided not to join his teammates at the White House for a few reasons.

"It's my own personal choice," Hampton told The Mully and Hanley Show on Monday. "I don't choose to go. No family, no kids (are allowed at the White House.) Honey's going to the White House, and you tell your kids and your wife, 'Oh, I'm sorry. You're not invited.' Secondly, I'm not a fan of the guy in the White House, and third, it was 25 years ago. Let it go."

The Bears missed the traditional celebration because their 46-10 victory over New England came two days before the Space Challenger exploded, killing the entire crew.

"It basically just rolled off our backs, and now, 25 years later to say, 'Let's put the band back together.' No, I'm not in," Hampton said.
