PARK RIDGE, Ill. (CBS) -- The police department in Park Ridge is trying to straighten out its record with Google.

Google lists the number (847) 318-5261. But that number is wrong, and will not connect users to a police department representative, Park Ridge police say in a news release.

Park Ridge police have made significant efforts to get Google to correct the problem, but Google has not done so. The wrong number was still listed as of Wednesday afternoon.

The right number for non-emergency police calls in Park Ridge is (847) 318-5252. This number is staffed 24 hours a day by police department personnel.

Anyone who needs immediate police service due to an emergency should dial 911.
