Expert: Get A Jump Start For Holiday Temp Work

CHICAGO (CBS) -- If you're planning to find a temporary job around the holidays, you may want to get a jump start on that right now.

But if you don't get hired right away, don't give up.

"Retailers notoriously have people who move from job to job. They may lose a couple people, or someone doesn't work out, so there's a lot of hiring that goes on in November and even December during the season, so keep going back," Challenger said.

This year, Challenger says retailers may have less spots to fill because the economy is slow, with the gross domestic product growing at just 1 percent.

He says that will keep retail hiring down.
