CHICAGO (WBBM) – The Chicago Police Marine Unit has recovered the bodies of two men who went missing in Lake Michigan.

The body of 51-year-old James Garcia, of Berkeley, was found Friday afternoon, not far from where he went for a swim last Saturday night.

His family tried to discourage it, because of the rough waves. They also tried to save him, but the waves were too big. The marine unit located his body soon after he drowned, but couldn’t hold on, either.

The body of 52-year-old Louis Grant, of Chicago’s River North neighborhood, was pulled from Burnham Harbor a couple hours later.

Police say he was meeting a friend at his boat in the harbor early Friday morning. He never made it and was reported missing last night.

His body was found not far from the boat.
