Quenneville Hopeful Hossa Will Play Tuesday

(CBS) Blackhawks head coach Joel Quenneville said Monday that he is hopeful Marian Hossa will play Tuesday night against the Coyotes in Phoenix.

The winger hasn't played or practiced since he suffered the upper body injury in last Thursday's win over the Winnipeg Jets.

The Blackhawks boarded a plane for Arizona after practice Monday and Hossa will make the two-game road trip. After playing the Coyotes Tuesday, the team will head to Denver to play the Avalanche Thursday.

The Blackhawks also announced they assigned Ben Smith to the Rockford Ice Hogs. Smith hasn't appeared in any regular-season games this season and hasn't played since he was hit by Brendan Smith on Sep. 28 during a preseason game. The corresponding roster move has yet to be announced.
