CHICAGO (STMW) – A woman who was hit by a van while crossing the street near her West Side home Saturday morning has died.

It happened about 11 a.m. in the 4800 block of West Chicago Ave., police said.

Police News Affairs Officer Robert Perez said the woman appears to be in her late 40s was crossing the street when a white van hit her.

The victim, a 47-year-old woman of the West Side, was pronounced dead at 11:44 a.m. at Mount Siniai Hospital, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

The motorist is being questioned, said Perez.

The police Major Accident Investigation Unit is investigating.

It would really be nice if CBS did more investigating before rushing to get stories on the internet with such little info. No names are given, no details about how the accident occurred, no info on tickets issued or if alcohol or drugs were involved. Maybe CBS reporters should wait until more details are available before putting out a nonstory that doesn’t say much. Our sympathy goes out to the family of this woman, whoever they are.
