CHICAGO (STMW) – A woman who was hit by a van while crossing the street near her West Side home Saturday morning has died.

It happened about 11 a.m. in the 4800 block of West Chicago Ave., police said.

Police News Affairs Officer Robert Perez said the woman appears to be in her late 40s was crossing the street when a white van hit her.

The victim, a 47-year-old woman of the West Side, was pronounced dead at 11:44 a.m. at Mount Siniai Hospital, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

The motorist is being questioned, said Perez.

The police Major Accident Investigation Unit is investigating.
