Epstein Meets Chicago, Promises 'Sustained Success'

(CBS) The wait is over.

New president of baseball operations for the Chicago Cubs, Theo Epstein, was formally introduced during a press conference at Wrigley Field on Tuesday morning.

"I've waited a few weeks to say this, but it truly feels great to be a Cub today," Epstein said as he was introduced.

Epstein stressed that "baseball is better when you win" and promised "sustained success."

"It will be a lot of work, but we are ready and we are hungry," Epstein said.

Epstein thanked a number of people, including chairman Tom Rickets, Crane Kenney, Jim Hendry and the Boston Red Sox organization.

Ricketts opened up the press conference by speaking for a few minutes, admitting that he knew Epstein was the perfect guy for the job.

"I simply cannot imagine a better person for this job than Theo Epstein," Ricketts said.
