Storm Could Bring Lightning, Hail

CHICAGO (STMW) - A fast moving thunderstorm with lightning and hail is expected to move into the Chicago area Tuesday night.

Showers and thunderstorms are likely to move into the Chicago about 8 p.m.., according to the National Weather Service's website. While less than 1/10 of an inch of rain is expected, wind gusts could reach 40 miles per hour.

The storm could produce cloud-to-ground lightning, pea sized hail and brief downpours, the weather service said.

The fast-moving storm is expected to leave the area by 1 a.m. Wednesday.

The weather service said there is a 20 percent chance the rain continues Wednesday, which is supposed to be cloudy with a high of 51 degrees and 20 mph wind gusts.
