CHICAGO (AP) – A soldier from northern Illinois has died in Saudi Arabia.

Sgt. 1st Class David G. Robinson, 28, of Winthrop Harbor died Tuesday, U.S. Defense Department spokesman Major Charlie Barrett says. Robinson’s death was not related to combat operations and is under investigation, Barrett said.

Robinson was assigned to the U.S. Army support Activity in Riyadh, where his unit was supporting operations in Iraq.

His death was announced Thursday.

Winthrop Harbor is located near the Wisconsin border.
