(CBS) So it’s not quite to the level of “Dewey Defeats Truman” or even the Miami Herald running an ad congratulating the Heat for winning the NBA Finals when they didn’t, but it’s close.

Before last night’s thrilling Game 6 ended, KDFW, Dallas’ FOX affiliate, erroneously sent out a text alert claiming the Rangers had won the World Series.

The text (via @KatyLou_Martin) said: “The Texas Rangers have won the World Series. Watch coverage on FOX 4 News and myFOXdfw.com.”

Hopefully the Rangers don’t believe in jinxes. They were one strike away from winning their first World Series twice Thursday night, but ended up losing on a walk-off home run by David Freese.

So if the Cardinals defeat the Rangers in Game 7 tonight, will Texas forever be haunted by the “Text Jinx”?
