Expert: Hurry Up And Book Holiday Flights

CHICAGO (CBS) -- If you're thinking about flying somewhere for Thanksgiving or Christmas and haven't made arrangements yet, you might want to hurry up.

As WBBM Newsradio's Bernie Tafoya reports, travel expert Melissa Klurman says airfares will not be going down between now and the holidays, so you probably should book your flight as soon as possible.

"The national average for a Thanksgiving ticket is $375 right now, so when your listeners go to book their ticket, if they're paying $375 or less, they know that's a really good price, and they should pull the trigger right away." Klurman said.

Klurman, of Travelocity, advises to save money by packing lighter and carrying on your luggage to avoid baggage fees, checking in online, and also paying ahead of time for any bags you check. Flying on the holiday itself is also advised.
