Kasper: Cubs' Heavy Lifting Already Done

(WSCR) While the question of who will become the next Cubs manager still looms around the North Side, one Cubs expert thinks the hard part in righting this organization has been done.

Cubs TV play-by-play man Len Kasper said that by bringing in President of Baseball operations Theo Epstein, general manager Jed Hoyer and scouting director Jason McLeod, the Cubs have put themselves in a position where they can bring in the right manager and begin to turn this ball club around.

"I think that all the candidates are qualified," Kasper told The McNeil and Spiegel Show. "There may be even some more down the road. I really believe, without over stating it, that the heavy lifting has been done. I think Theo Epstein, Jed Hoyer, Jason McLeod -- those three individuals in particular coming into this organization are the most important in terms of the baseball operations. I'm confident that they'll hire a manager who is an independent thinker, but also is someone who will get with the program and someone they will feel they can trust in terms up lineup configuration and the way they want this ball club run."
