Report: Epstein Reaches Out To Big Z

CHICAGO (CBS) — A published report says Cubs president Theo Epstein has reached out to volatile starting pitcher Carlos Zambrano.

Zambrano tells a Venezuelan newspaper the new Cubs boss called and said he’d like to meet stateside at a future date, according to the website MLB Trade Rumors.

Zambrano has had a rocky relationship with his longtime team. Over the summer, he was put on the disqualified list after walking out on his teammates during a loss to the Atlanta Braves.

The Cubs appeared ready to part ways with the starter, but Epstein has only recently taken the reins of the North Side ball club.

Unless you get trade him and the other team takes on most of his salary, keep him, get what you can out of him. If he returns to his prior behavior, let him sit, then his contract is up next year. Then he is gone. I would hate to pay 18 million dollars for him to win games for someone else.. I trust Theo to do the best thing, you have to at this point, we don’t have a choice anyway. Have a great day.

That should say, unless you trade him, sorry, I am getting old.

His bat is more useful then his arm right now. Put him at first base and watch him knock out 30-40 homers and drive in a 100.
