Former Bears Scout: Hanie 'Makes Plays'

(WSCR) With all the talk around the Bears revolving around Caleb Hanie taking over for an injured Jay Cutler, Greg Gabriel of The National Football Post joined The Mully and Hanley Show to discuss Hanie.

Gabriel worked as a scouting director for the Bears when the team signed Hanie as an undrafted free-agent in 2008.

"When (Caleb Hanie and Nick Hill) got into camp, Caleb was obviously the better player," Gabriel said. "He had a stronger arm. He had a better grasp of the game, playing against better competition in college. In all honestly, he was a surprise. What Caleb is, is a gamer. He may not have a great week of practice, but when it's live, he just all of the sudden makes plays."
