CHICAGO (CBS) — A new poll shows incumbent Jesse Jackson Jr. leading challenger Debbie Halvorson in the race to represent Illinois’ 2nd Congressional District.

However, there are plenty of voters who haven’t yet made up their minds.

The survey — conducted by an independent pollster and cited in the Sun-Times — shows Jackson with 35 percent to Halvorson’s 18 percent.

The poll of 600 potential voters combined live interviews and automated questioning.

Debbie Halvorson represents and works hard for the people. She is mostly responsible for the VA hospital taking over Silver Cross in Joliet when it moves to its new location in New Lenox, which brings quality care closer to our veterans. When you need help, Debbie is always there and she or one of her representatives will contact you in a timely manner and try to resolve the issue. Too bad I don’t live in her district. Let’s hope the people in the 2nd District are smart enough to vote for her.
