12 Families Displaced By Maywood Fire

MAYWOOD, Ill. (CBS) — Twelve families were displaced from a Maywood apartment building after a fire Sunday morning.

The fire broke out around 10 a.m. at a 24-unit apartment building at 1012 Greenwood Av., according to Maywood Fire Lt. Anthony Morrone.

The fire, which started in the rear of the building, left 12 families displaced.

Morrone said a number of agencies, including the American Red Cross and Helping Hands of Bensenville, had offered shelter to the affected families — up to 25 people altogether.

No injuries were reported in the fire.

The cause was under investigation as of Sunday afternoon.
