Girl, 13, Shot In Chest In Englewood
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A 13-year-old girl was shot and critically wounded in the Englewood neighborhood early Sunday on the South Side.
The girl was walking on a sidewalk in the 7100 block of South Hoyne Avenue about 12:45 a.m. when somebody inside a white car opened fire and shot her in the right side of the chest, police said.
The fire department said the 13-year-old girl was initially taken in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. Police said early Sunday she was in "stable" condition.
Wentworth Area detectives are investigating, but nobody is in custody Sunday morning.
