UPDATED 12/08/11 6:24 a.m.
CHICAGO (CBS) -- The Racine Avenue off-ramp on the inbound Eisenhower Expressway was blocked early Thursday, after a delivery van driver slammed into a tree.
As CBS 2's Kris Habermehl reports, the accident happened in the predawn hours on the inbound Eisenhower.
The driver lost control of the van while exiting at Racine Avenue, and ended up going through a fence and into a tree.
The driver was injured, and taken to the hospital in an unknown condition.
The off-ramp, which carries traffic to the area around the University of Illinois at Chicago campus, was closed for a while after the accident. It had reopened by 6:15 a.m.
Meanwhile, debris was strewn along the inbound lanes of the Eisenhower, which was expected to cause additional traffic woes.
