Garage Fire Causes $125K In Damage, Leaves Naperville Family Homeless

NAPERVILLE, Ill. (STMW) -- A garage fire early Sunday displaced a family and caused about $125,000 in damages in west suburban Naperville.

A general alarm was called at 3:35 a.m. for a fire in the attached garage of a residence at 409 Whispering Hills, according to a release from the Naperville fire department. Ten pieces of fire apparatus and 25 fire personnel were called to the scene.

Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy smoke and fire showing from the garage, the release said. The fire was located in the garage and the fire was extinguished within 20 minutes.

The residents were out of the home, the release said. No one was injured.

The home sustained about $125,000 in damages, the release said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, the release said. The home was uninhabitable and the residents have made arrangements for temporary shelter.
