Schuster: Derrick Rose To Finally Sign New Contract

By: David Schuster

Derrick Rose has always said he doesn't play basketball for the money but no matter because he is about to become a very rich man. Rose and the Bulls have put the finishing touches on a new 5 year deal that totals about $94 million. The first year of the contract will be for about $16 million and then escalate from there.

Rose would not have received this much money but a new clause in the recently signed deal between the Owners and Players allows Rose to get more because he has excelled so much early in his career.

So Rose has now won a Rookie of the Year award, two All Star appearances, a Most Valuable Player Award and now a monster size contract. Not bad for a young man who is only 23 years old.
