2011’s Week #14 Winner: Susan’s Smokey Tailgate Chili

The Smoked Sausage adds the perfect aroma and Flavor for tailgating on a cold Chicago day at Soldier Field.
3 lbs Ground Chuck
1/2 lb Smoked Sausage cut into bite size pieces(Eckrich, Hillshire Farms, or from your butcher)
1 Onion Diced
2 Cloves Garlic Crushed
1 Small Green Pepper Diced
1 Can Chili Recipe Diced Tomatoes 14.5 oz.
12 oz Tomato Paste
48 oz Tomato Sauce
2 Lg cans Brooks Chili Beans undrained
1.5 T Chili Powder
1 T Cumin
Dash of Cayenne Pepper
8 oz Mr. & Mrs. T Bloody Mary Mix
8 oz Beer (use your favorite beer – but a light beer works well!)
Brown ground chuck with onion, garlic, and green pepper in a large pot or dutch oven. Drain off grease and return to pot. Add remaining ingredients except beer and simmer over low heat stirring occasionally for 30 min. Add beer and simmer for another 30 min. Make this the day before the game. On game day just warm up chili on the grill. Pack diced Vidalia Onion, Shredded Cheddar Cheese, and Oyster crackers for topping.
