CSU Student Dies After Playing Basketball

CHICAGO (STMW) – A Chicago State University engineering student collapsed and died after playing basketball in the school’s gym Tuesday.
Jerome Porter, 19, had been playing basketball in the Jacoby Dickens Center gym at 9501 S. King Dr. when he collapsed, according to a CSU press release.
Porter, of of the 8100 block of South Woodlawn Ave. was taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 4:27 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
Counseling services are available to students, staff and family members, the release said.
