Fire Sweeps Through 3 Houses In Portage Park

CHICAGO (CBS) — Eleven people were left out in the cold Thursday morning, after a fire in the Northwest Side’s Portage Park neighborhood.

The fire broke out around midnight Wednesday night at a house at 4922 W. Dakin St., and quickly spread to two neighboring houses.

No injuries were reported, but all three homes sustained smoke and water damage.

The Chicago Department of Human Services was called to the scene to help the 11 people who were displaced find temporary places to stay.

The American Red Cross of Greater Chicago was also on the scene.

As of Thursday morning, the cause of the fire had not been determined.

They have the address wrong and there were only 2 homes involved, not 3. One was a house converted into and apartment building which did have 3 tenants. Thats where the 3 came from, and the correct address is 4933 Dakin, not 4022.
